Teen Cooking Class Schedule
Children at this age are establishing their identity, discovering who they are, as well as who they are not. Their palate has expanded again and there is a willingness to try new foods as an expression of themselves- this is a way for them to be different.

For kids in this age group, choice is key. We want to offer recipes that allow them to express themselves. Like an art teacher would encourage kids to apply their brushstrokes in creative ways, we want to give these young cooks the foundation to stray from the written recipe.

Concepts such as chemistry and biology of foods and cooking will be interjected when they apply, giving young cooks structures that must be followed in order to achieve the results they are looking for. This knowledge will help them to make choices when substitutions can and should be made.

We will experiment with flavor: complimentary and opposing. We will use our senses to make educated guesses about our experimentation: smell, sight, intuition, experience.

Cooking skills that we will focus on will vary by class. Look for international cuisines and vegetarian cooking classes as well as varied skill topics like sautéing, baking, roasting and braising.
