The idea of make-ahead meals is nothing new. People have been making casseroles since the medieval ages! More recently, we’ve seen the sprouting up of fancy stores/restaurants that provide a venue for assembling dinners that can then be frozen and reheated when they are needed. During the month of June, we’ll be focusing on teaching your child to cook and prepare delicious family meals that can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen until that in-a-pinch moment when there is no time to prepare the meal your family deserves. If June has you scrambling with recitals, graduations, weddings and end-of-year parties, you’ll truly appreciate these little gems. Maybe they are not “Magic Dinners”, but they are close!

Expect Creamy White Lasagna, so good you’ll want it every week…and Sweet and Sour Pork that smells so good it may not make it to freezer. We’ll also play with make-ahead breakfast treats- like French Toast Sticks and Potato-Crusted Breakfast Quiche. Of course, the month would not be complete without dessert, would it? Since we’re focusing on make-ahead treats, why not learn a special frozen treat for summer? Strawberry Buttermilk Ice will knock your socks off! And moms will like the nutritional bonus of less fat and less sugar, too!
