Fresh Cut Salad Knife

When I first saw this knife, I was a bit skeptical. It looks too much like a toy and I was worried about it winding up in the toy box instead of an easy to reach kitchen drawer. The serrated edge and slightly wedged shape make it a great choice for lettuces, but for me it creates the perfect transition tool for kids who are expressing a desire to use a knife, but are still not savvy enough to begin with a metal blade.
The plastic is polypropylene, which means it can stand up to being dropped, but does not get sharp enough where I would worry about cuts. I've dragged it across my palm several times to demonstrate my confidence in it.
Allow your 3-5 year old child to use it to slice cake, bread, brownies... Kids 6+ will be able to cut just about anything with it! Raw potatoes, carrots, celery, fruits, cooked meats...just about anything they can lay stably on the counter while it is being cut. By Zyliss.
