FAQ

FAQ
My son/daughter has a food allergy/intolerance. How does For Kids Who Cook handle that? For Kids Who Cook is not an allergy-free facility. However, provided that your child has an allergy of ingestion only, you should be okay. Each child prepares his or her own food and simple substitutions or eliminations make it quite possible for us to accommodate their needs. However, we do not police packaging for allergy warnings. If your child has a severe allergy, it may be best for you to call first so that we may discuss the menu in question. You can contact Lisa at (603)591-5918 or email her at lisa@forkidswhocook.com. We do keep rice flour on-hand for gluten intolerances, and very rarely allow peanuts into the facility. If we do, the menu is well-publicized as including peanut ingredients.

What should we bring to class with us? All For Kids Who Cook classes include all of the food, packaging and tools necessary. Please tie long hair back. Bangs that get in the eyes should be held back with a hat or headband of some sort. Wear sneakers! You will be on your feet for the entire class. Short-sleeves are best. If you would like to bring a water bottle, please label it with your name. Bring a cloth sack or reusable grocery bag to carry your food home! We send home LOTS of food to share and it is sometimes still hot. A cloth bag will make this much easier for you to cope with.

Can my child take one class or do I have to commit to a series of classes? Yes, you may register for one class at a time. However, most of our students take classes on a weekly basis for a minimum period of 3 months and take advantage of our discounts. Because our menus change weekly and we rarely repeat recipes in our weekly classes, we have many students who sign up for consecutive 3 month sessions, having taken classes for 9 months or longer.

Why don't you post the class menus ahead of time? Each month, For Kids Who Cook posts a different theme, and each week we cook about 2 new recipes from that theme. The website description of the theme will list most of the recipes that we will be cooking. Kids can be fickle with their tastes and what we know from experience is that kids are more apt to try new foods when they cook them. By giving you an idea of what types of dishes we will be creating, we leave the imagination open. It also gives us some flexibility with the availability of fresh produce. And sometimes I just get inspired at the very last minute! If you absolutely have to know before you get to class? Become a facebook fan. We post the menu there...

Do you do private classes? Yes, please call Lisa at (603) 591-5918 for details. We also do after-school and in-school enrichment programs and events at your facility.

I love what you guys do! Is For Kids Who Cook a franchise? Nah. I'm just a mom who reads cookbooks like novels and plays with food more than most. But if you are interested in becoming a kids' cooking teacher and offering classes in your own area, give me a call.
