Election Day Workshop, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 10-1pm

Product Description
School's closed and the opportunity to poke a little culinary fun at all this very grown-up political stuff is just too irresistible. I expect that we will hear lots of supper suggestions on Election Day. Someone will undoubtedly be “eating his words”, which is not at all appetite satiating; and maybe even “eating crow”, which can’t be too tasty.
In putting together this workshop, we toyed with many menu ideas- “Roasted Lame Duck” for example… After careful deliberation and an electoral college of popularly elected representatives, we decided that our menu should reflect the day’s events. Since, at the end of the day some will be eating “Celebration Cake”, while others will be having “Humble Pie”- it seemed like a natural fit!
14th century culinary classics included pies baked from the ‘umbles’ of a deer. The venison meat was often given to the nobles, while the innards- the ‘umbles’ were left to be savored in meat pie. Eventually, the word metanalyzed into “humble”. A fitting meal for humility, don’t you think? We’ll bake our “Humble Pie” much the same way your grandmother made “Chicken Pie”. Lots of vegetables, creamy gravy and chunks of white and dark meat chicken.
“Celebration Cake” should be everything its name implies! Choose to bake a white or a chocolate cake. And when it’s cool, we’ll break out all of the frosting tips and let your child decorate it anyway they like. Democratically.
This workshop will be held exclusively in our Derry studio.
